RFK Jr. Not Responsible for Super Bowl Ad

RFK Jr. for President 2024

The other today, I spoke about my reaction to Super Bowl LVIII and my hatred for the Prevent Defense and made mention of the surprising appearance of an antique-style campaign ad supporting Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. for President. As it turns out, the ad was run by a Super PAC called the American Values PAC.

The way campaign finance law works, a candidate is only allowed to raise a limited amount of money per individual (or double for a married couple). Each election cycle, an individual is only allowed to donate $3,300 to any candidate's campaign. This number is indexed for inflation every two years, so in 2008 it was $2,300. In 2028, it will be even more than $3,300. However, in 2010, the courts ruled that limiting political donations was a violation of free speech. This resulted in the creation of Super PACs. Super PACs are allowed to collect UNLIMTED sums of money (a heck of a lot more than $3,300) from individuals. However, Super PACs are required to be totally independent from a candidate's campaign and cannot contribute to any candidate's campaign committee. In other words, if Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. thought a vintage ad in the Super Bowl almost nine months before the general election was a waste of $7 million, it is actually illegal for him to tell the Super PAC not to run the ad. Likewise, it's illegal for the Super PAC to tell anyone in the RFK, Jr. campaign that they're running the ad. These are two entirely separate campaigns that have the same purpose: electing the candidate.

So why does this matter?

Well, when the ad was first run, RFK, Jr. said he was "surprised and grateful" after seeing the ad. However, shortly thereafter, some members of the Kennedy family, got butt hurt about the ad and found it wildly offensive because she disagrees with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s stance on vaccines; which you would think would be similar to the Swine Flu vaccine conspiracy theory. I'm not even a Democrat and I think it's sad to see the once great Kennedy family infighting like this.

However, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. DID actually take to X in order to apologize:

Frankly, it's pathetic that he feels like he needs to apologize at all (at least for this, RFK Jr has sex skeletons). He's the son and nephew of legendary American politicians and it's the only reason why his campaign has more credibility than any independent candidate since Ross Perot... and history may prove his credibility is even greater and on par with Teddy Roosevelt. It's not his ad, as he acknowledges. The only reason the ad is bad is because of the choppy editing.

Sadly, the liberal media that's simping for Obama-Clinton-Biden is jumping on the apology hoping to make people disregard the ad. It has somewhat diminished the impact of the ad and made the $7 million spent on it worth a little less. The whole thing is absolutely insane because RFK Jr. still has this pinned to the top of his X profile:

If John F. Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy were still alive, they would have one VERY clear message to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: WIN.
