Kevin Tracy's Best LaffyCon Ever
LaffyCon was kind of a last minute con in 2021, but Kevin Tracy jumped at the opportunity to attend anyway. As the vendors were warned, the 2021 LaffyCon was indeed a smaller affair with a smaller turnout than in 2018 or 2019. LaffyCon was also only a one-day event this year. In 2018 and 2019, LaffyCon took place over a Saturday and Sunday.
Despite this, we’re pleased to report that Kevin Tracy made more money at LaffyCon 2021 than any prior year! This is particularly impressive because LaffyCon previously boasted the highest earnings-per-attendee of any conventions or expos Kevin Tracy previously attended. To improve on already great numbers at only his second event since the pandemic speaks volumes for the increase in quality of Kevin’s art and his incredible showmanship!
The MSPaint Comic: Volume 1 was again the best selling item, followed closely by the original art prints by Kevin Tracy. In particular, Kevin and the entire KTracy.com Staff would like to thank the LaffyCon team for giving all of the vendors the option to use two tables. The second table allowed Mr. Tracy to place most of his 12x18 and 13x19 prints on the table where they captured much more attention than usual.
Also new to Kevin Tracy’s display are decals. During the pandemic, Full Metal Snacko; which was run by an Air Force buddy of Kevin Tracy’s and a huge fan of KTracy.com; went out of business. The business was donated to KTracy.com. Throughout the past year, the vinyl decal business has provided extra income when we needed it the most. Bringing these vinyl decals to a convention was an experiment that taught us a lot. Kevin Tracy is convinced there’s a market for them at future conventions, but that they need to be presented in a clearer way. While decals did sell at LaffyCon, Kevin Tracy is convinced they can generate even more revenue next year.
All-in-all, it was a hugely successful event. Kevin Tracy has already committed to LaffyCon 2022.
Finally, the entire KTracy.com family and especially Kevin Tracy himself want to wish the very best to one of the con organizers since 2018, Seema. Seema is moving to South Carolina to pursue new adventures there. Her leadership and eagerness to hold herself as an organizer accountable for the 2018 LaffyCon’s shortcomings was what really impressed Kevin Tracy and made him commit to LaffyCon before all other cons moving forward. She and the LaffyCon team turned things around in epic fashion in 2019, communicated with the vendors in 2020, and prepared us for the smaller scale 2021 show. It’s our hope that Seema’s influence will be felt for many years and decades of LaffyCon’s to come.
