Mike Huckabee's Presidential Campaign Rally at the Country Springs Hotel in Pewaukee, WI
By February 13, 2008, Mike Huckabee's Presidential Campaign was in bad straights. John McCain had nearly secured the Republican nomination and Mike Huckabee was hanging in the race out of respect for the massive number of die hard loyal followers who still prayed for a miracle victory.
On this night, Kevin Tracy a snow storm, icy road conditions, and Chicago traffic for a 3 hour drive from his home in Indiana to the Country Springs Hotel in Pewaukee, WI. As the crowd gathered, the hotel had to remove a temporary wall to double the capacity of the room, delaying the start of the event.
The room was still uncomfortably full and getting warm for everybody who came in from the snow storm wearing their winter coats. At the time, Kevin wondered why they didn't open another temporary wall to allow more people in. However, after the rally, the campaign invited Kevin to the other side; which was set up for a press conference with local and national reporters.
After the press conference, Kevin was invited to stay the night and follow the campaign for the remainder of their campaign stops. However, due to the storm, Kevin decided to head back to Indiana. He would regret that decision as a real missed opportunity, especially when he saw how bad the roads had gotten in Chicago and Indiana.
