Volunteerism
Over the last 50 years, there has been a significant decline in the prominence of and participation within civic organizations throughout the world. Government has largely filled the vacuum in their increased absense in our communities; but the state has proven itself largely ineffective compared to the benefits of strong civic organizations within the community.
Kevin Tracy strongly supports the return of these civic organizations and rebuilding their prominence in our communities as they are wildly more successful at helping our brothers and sisters in need and reduce both individual and community dependence on government.
The list of organizations Kevin Tracy and KTracy.com belong to or support is below.
Knights of Columbus
Knight of the 3rd Degree
The Knights of Columbus are a Catholic fraternal order founded by the Blessed Father Michael McGivney as a mutual benefit society for American Catholics who were largely marginalized in the late 19th Century. Since that time, the Knights of Columbus have grown in their mission to help refugees, victims of natural disasters, those with physical and developmental disabilities, and Christian political causes (such as the right to life) across the entire globe.
Kevin Tracy has been involved in his local Knights of Columbus council, raising money for Gibault Children's Services and assisting with various youth activities such as the annual free-throw contest and soccer challenge.
St. Baldrick's Foundation
Knight Commander
More children die from cancer than AIDS, asthma, cystic fibrosis, congenital anomalies, and diabetes combined. It is the single most deadly disease for children. Adding to the crisis, two-thirds of the children who survive their fight with cancer are left with an array of long-term or permanent disabilities. These effects don't come from the cancer, but from the treatment. They include loss of hearing, loss of vision, heart disease, secondary cancers, learning disabilities, infertility, and more. The St. Baldrick's Foundation doesn't raise money to treat children with cancer (although that does happen), they raise money to research new treatment methods to improve a child's chance at beating cancer and reduce or eliminate the risk of long term and permanent side effects that would radically alter a child's future quality of life.
The St. Baldrick's Foundation raises money with the help of volunteers who raise money and awareness by having their heads shaved at events across the country.
Kevin has been shaving his head for the St. Baldrick's Foundation since 2011. He had grown out his hair starting in July of 2019 since the 2020 event would be his 10th anniversary shaving his head. Sadly, because of the pandemic, Kevin was unable to shave his head in 2020 or 2021. Kevin's hair is now stupid long and he's attempting to grow it out so he can donate it to Locks of Love when he eventually shaves his head again.
One of the reasons Kevin chose to support the St. Baldrick's Foundation is because they don't fund research using tissue or embryonic stem cells from aborted children. Instead, their grants support projects from the ethically collected from umbilical cords and living donors.
